Creamy Vegan Avocado Sauce

This incredibly easy to make vegan avocado sauce is super creamy and loaded with flavor from cilantro, lime, garlic and optional jalapeno peppers. Use it in endless ways to boost the flavor of any meal!

Ingredients

  • 3 large avocados , ripe (or 5 small; 370 g)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (30 mL)
  • ¼ - ½ cup cilantro (15 g = ½ cup lightly packed)
  • 1 clove garlic *
  • ¼ - ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 1-2 tablespoons jalapeno pepper , optional ** (10-20 g)
  • 1 tablespoon water (may need 1-2 tablespoons more to help blend)

Instructions

Step 1: Blend Sauce

  • Cut your avocados in half and discard the pits. Scoop the avocado from its skin and place into a blender or food processor.

  • Add the remaining ingredients: lime juice, cilantro, garlic, salt, onion powder, black pepper, jalapeno pepper and water.

  • Blend, adding water if needed, until the sauce is smooth. Scrape the edges of your blender or food processor to make sure everything’s incorporated.

Step 2: Taste, Adjust and Serve

  • Taste your avocado sauce and adjust the flavors to your liking. You may want extra lime juice, cilantro, garlic, salt, pepper, jalapenos; anything! This is a very customizable recipe depending on what you want to use it for.
  • Serve immediately.
