These veggie bacon bits are easy to make from textured vegetable protein (TVP). Skip the imitation bacon and make homemade crumble!

When prepared with other flavorful ingredients, TVP crumbles can be quite smoky and salty, crisp and chewy!

TVP crumbles Vegetable broth Soy sauce Vegetable oil Nutritional yeast Maple syrup Smoked paprika Smoked salt

How to Make It

Prep Veggie Bacon Bits

Step 1:

Add all ingredients into a medium-large mixing bowl.

Step 1:

Stir until the TVP is well coated in spices and sauces. Microwave for 1 minute; stir and cook for another minute.

Bake in Oven

Prep a baking tray with parchment or silicone. Spread the TVP across in an even layer, as thin as possible.

Step 2:

Bake in Oven

Bake at 350 F for 30 min.  Remove pan every 10 min to toss (for even cooking). Remove when mostly crisp.

Step 2:

Serve

Allow bacon bits to cool completely before serving. They're great on Caesar salad or baked potatoes!

Step 3:

Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to a week.
