Vegan Pulled "Pork"

This recipe replicates the taste and texture of typical BBQ pulled pork. It's a great vegan meal to make when cravings hit, or when serving others!

Pulled Jackfruit Sandwich

Take your vegan pulled pork to a higher level by making it into a BBQ sandwich! Just add coleslaw and your favorite toasted bun.

How to Make It

Prep Jackfruit and Other Ingredients

Step 1:

Open your cans of jackfruit and drain the brine water. For each piece, cut the core away from the stringy "fruit". Keep these core pieces!

Step 1:

Finely dice the jackfruit core and any seeds you find. Pull apart the stringy pieces with your hands.

Step 1:

Add chopped core pieces to the pulled apart strings. Spice as desired and toss in a bowl to fully coat jackfruit. 

Cook Jackfruit

Step 2:

Cook some sliced onion in a pan with vegetable oil. Lower the heat, then add prepared jackfruit and BBQ sauce. Stir together.

Prep Coleslaw

Step 3:

As an optional step, mix all of the vegan coleslaw ingredients in a bowl. Adjust flavors to your tastes before serving!

Assemble Sandwiches

Step 4:

Prepare some buns by buttering and toasting them. Load with BBQ jackfruit and slaw, then serve!

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container. Jackfruit: Up to 5 days Coleslaw: Up to 3 days Freezing not recommended for jackfruit or coleslaw.
