It’s a simple recipe that's great for any occasion. They’re an irresistible appetizer, but don’t let that stop you from having some as a meal!

How to Make It

Prepare Ingredients

Chop crabless "meat" base into small, flaky pieces and add to the bowl along with some canning liquid. Finely mince celery, onion and parsley.

Mix Crab Cakes

Add all remaining ingredients (except breadcrumbs) to a bowl with flour and spices and mix well. Let this mixture sit for at least 10 minutes.

Shape and Coat with Breadcrumbs

Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs onto a plate. Scoop ¼ C of crab cake batter into your hands and press firmly.

Place this patty onto the breadcrumbs, sprinkle more on top and lightly pat down. Carefully pick up and place onto a lined baking tray.

Bake and Serve

Lightly spray or brush oil onto both sides of the crab cakes, then place into a hot oven. Serve hot or let cool slightly to have a firmer crab cake!

Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Reheat leftovers in an oven, air fryer or microwave.

How to Store Leftovers

Jackfruit tends to create the firmest crab cake and most neutral flavor. Its texture is finer than hearts of palm or artichoke.
